Introducing full time remote monitoring of your boat’s vital systems over the Internet

SmartBoats™ provides a revolutionary new technology that gives boat owners critical information never before available: full time remote monitoring of your vessel’s vital systems over the Internet.

SmartBoats' unique, proprietary sensors monitor your boat for intrusion, bilge pump operation, high water alarm and shore power connection 24 hours a day. Information is transmitted directly from your boat to our secure servers via wireless link or satellite, where it is processed and made available to you anytime, from any personal computer.

No special software required. No computer on the boat. No phone connections, no wires, nothing to turn on and set after every sail, and highly sophisticated monitoring unavailable through any other system. Period.

You can perform a Remote DockCheck at any time. All you have to do is connect to SmartBoats.com, log onto your boat’s web page, and get real-time information from your boat.

If an event or alarm should occur, you are notified of the condition by e-mail, page, or direct phone call so you can take corrective action before damage occurs. You can add anyone you want to your notification list, such as marina personnel.

The boat owner chooses the systems to be monitored from our options, purchases the SmartSensor equipment, and pays a flat monitoring fee based on level of monitoring. All the alarms and conditions can be defined and changed at any time using the SmartBoats Web Site and the boat’s Web Page. Contact lists can be changed at any time. Additional sensors can be purchased and added to the system at any time.

SmartBoats Remote DockCheck offers monitoring for a variety of customer needs, from basic security and peace of mind to highly sophisticated Satellite systems that track your boat around the world. Start with the Basic Package, and add as many features as you wish at any time.

Additional Features of SmartBoats Remote DockCheck
  • SmartBoats is bi-directional, allowing you to both monitor and CONTROL your boats systems over the Internet. If you can measure it, we can monitor it and control it.
  • Because SmartBoats' sensors are "smart" the system is able to maintain a history of the boat’s operations, such as the amount of time each day the bilge pump comes on. If the bilge pump begins operating for increasing periods of time, the sensor will notify the system of a possible problem with equipment, or a possible leak, allowing for repairs before damage is caused.
  • SmartBoats Remote DockCheck is wireless, self-calibrating, self identifying and highly reliable. No wiring in boat, and no hook-up to the dock!
  • Installation is a snap, and takes approximately 2 hours for the Marina System. The satellite system requires an external antenna, which may take a little longer to install, depending on boat design.
  • SmartBoats.com will provide a link between subscribers, marinas and the boating industry. Each subscriber will have their own customized home page for their boat, from which they can send and receive e-mails, check weather and access their data. Take a look at our Subscribers page for more.

SmartBoats Remote DockCheck is an incredibly flexible system which can be adopted to suit your needs and preferences. Whether you have a small sailboat with a manual bilge, or a large cruiser, DockCheck will save you time, heartache and very possibly your boat.

To view a live demo of a boat being monitored, live video feed, and live weather data from a SmartBoats Member Marina, please follow the links.

NOTE: The demonstration boat has been pulled out of the water and "shrink-wrapped" for the winter. We have left the data displays as they were for the last valid reports we received before shutting down. We will update this site just as soon as we can set up another demonstration on a boat which is still in the water. Please check back occasionally.

BOAT/U.S. STATISTIC

The following was reprinted from a Boat/U.S. study of Insurance Claims:

"Skipper, We've Got Some Bad News: Why Boats Sink at the Dock. If you're one of those who sleep well at night, comforted by the dream that your bilge pump is there to keep your boat afloat, wake up! Statistics show that bilge batteries and pumps can be quickly overwhelmed when minor leaks are ignored. In fact, according to a review of 100 BOAT/U.S. Marine Insurance claim files, for every boat that sinks 'at sea' in open water, four sink at the dock. If that statistic doesn't rouse you, consider that the cost of repairing a boat that has been underwater, even briefly, is usually 40% of its value (ouch!)."

Boat/U.S is the largest association of boat owners in the USA, with over 500,000 members.
